What's included
Essaouira or the old Mogador is a city that reminds us of the time when Spain, Portugal and England fought to control the Atlantic coasts. It has a typically Portuguese harbour with beautiful examples of Moorish and Portuguese art and architecture and where you can enjoy a fresh seafood lunch. The fishing port is often full of brightly painted blue boats and the fishermen can be seen selling their wonderful array of exotic fish and seafood. Essaouira is known for its medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it´s also known for the artisans who work with Thuya, a tree that produces really good wood for making carved products and also for the souk of money. Essaouira is perhaps best known for its annual world music festival and its history that talks of the black slaves who brought the spiritual rhythmical Gnawa music to the shores. In the afternoon, on our way back to Marrakech, we take you to visit an Argan oil co-operative. You can see this region is where the Argan trees grow and it´s in these places the nuts are processed by hand into the world famous oils and other products used in cosmetics and for cooking.
